Remote Learning Announcement

JEFCOED Family,

We are transitioning back to remote learning for all students from Tuesday, January 5th through Friday, January 8th.

Students currently enrolled in traditional school will return to campus Monday, January 11th.

I have delayed making this move as long as possible because I wanted to make the most informed decision I could.  However, after consulting with the medical experts at the Jefferson County Department of Public Health and the Jefferson County School System, I feel this is the best move to keep our students and faculty as safe as possible.

There is a significant concern about community transmission during the holidays.  By shifting to remote learning for this short period we give ourselves space.  We allow more than two weeks to pass from Christmas and approximately a week and a half from New Year’s.  We hope to cut down on the transmission of the virus among students and staff.  Once we return to traditional school on January 11th decisions will be made on a school-by-school basis.

One other thing I would stress is the success of this plan is directly tied to all of us being responsible members of the community.  Please continue to avoid large crowds and stay home when possible.  Practice social distancing and wear a mask.  Continue to use good hygiene.

If any further changes are needed to our plan, we will communicate those directly to you as soon as possible.
