The Center Point High School Band is a group of student musicians who rehearse and perform instrumental music. The band also performs in parades, field shows at sporting events, indoor concerts and marching band competitions. 

Mr. Mark D. Hatten   Band Director
Mr. Mark D. Hatten is a native of York, Alabama. He is a 1991 graduate of Sumter County High School in York, Alabama. He received a B.S. Degree in Music Education from Alabama A&M University in 1997. While attending Alabama A&M University, Mr. Hatten performed in the University Wind Ensemble, Stage Band, and the Marching Maroon and White Band. He also performed with the Huntsville Opera Theater while in college. Mr. Hatten also attended Alabama State University, where he received his Masters of Music Education degree. He is currently a member of organizations such as: the NAfME (National Association for Music Educators), Alabama Bandmasters Association,Phi Mu Alpha Sinfonia Fraternity Inc., Kappa Kappa Psi National Honorary Band Fraternity, and Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Incorporated. Mr. Hatten served as Band Director of Litchfield High School in Gadsden, Alabama from 2000-2005, and now currently serves as the Band Director of Center Point High School, formerly known as E. B. Erwin High School, in Center Point, Alabama.    

Since functioning under the direction of Mr. Mark D. Hatten in 2005, the Center Point High School Band has grown to become one of the premiere Show Style marching bands in the State of Alabama. The marching band has participated in events such as: McDonald’s Magic City Classic Parade, Alabama A. & M. University Homecoming Parade and Post-game Show, Miles College Homecoming Parade, Walt Disney World Magic Music Festival, Six Flags over Georgia Music in the Park Band Showcase, Panama City Beach Marching Band Rewards Weekend Festival, the Universal Stars Orlando Music Festival, and the Viewer’s Choice Battle of the Bands at Six Flags Georgia where Mr. Hatten received the “Band Director of the Year Award” in 2018. The Center Point High School Band, throughout the years, has also received superior ratings in the Pell City Marching Festival, The Greater Birmingham Marching Festival, the Central Alabama Marching Festival, the Magic City Marching Festival, and the Anniston Marching Band Festival. The Center Point High School Concert Band also participates annually in the state’s Music Performance Assessment.
