Parents and Guardians,
We want to begin by thanking you for your support so far this school year. We are looking forward to what this Semester will bring.
At this time, one issue that we need to address is the student dress code. Below you will find information from the Jefferson County Student and Parent Handbook. The biggest things we are noticing as a concern are shirts not being long enough to cover leggings, open holes in pants above the knee, and short skirts. We ask that you and your child review these guidelines. Nonconformity to dress code is considered a Class I infraction.
Taken from the Jefferson County dress code guidelines:
The Board’s dress and grooming guidelines are intended to promote and foster an appropriate educational environment by minimizing unnecessary distractions and permitting students to focus on academic progress. The following mandatory guidelines are designed to further that intent:
- Hats, caps, hair picks, bandannas, visors, and sunglasses must be removed and placed in the locker or designated area and remain during the school day.
- Cutoff tops, tank tops, and mesh tops can be worn if a T-shirt with sleeves is worn underneath or another shirt is worn over the top. (Cover shirt or undershirt may not be sheer or mesh).
- Back, chest and midriff must be covered.
- No open holes in pants above the knee
- Clothing must be worn over leggings/jeggings or tights and must be of appropriate length (no shorter than mid-thigh)
- Articles of clothing must be appropriate for school wear. Skirts, dresses, and shorts may be no shorter than four inches above the top of the knee. Slits in skirts must meet the four inches above the knee regulation.
If you have any questions or concerns, please feel free to contact your child’s homeroom teacher.
Thank you for all of your support,
McAdory High School

NOTICE: DESTRUCTION OF RECORDS
According to the Alabama Administrative Code, 290-8-9-08 (2) (h), an education agency must retain a copy of education records for five (5) years after the termination of the special education program for which they were used. At the end of the five (5) years retention period, the education agency will provide written notice to parents to inform them that the special education records are no longer needed and will be destroyed. This serves as a notice that special education records for students who attended Jefferson County Schools and whose birthday is on or before December 31, 1997 will be destroyed after February 9, 2024. Parents or students may request the records by sending a written request to the Director of Exceptional Education at The Jefferson County Board of Education at the following address:
